Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW): Republican candidate Derrick Anderson conceded the seat to Democrat Eugene Vindman in an address to his supporters yesterday evening.  Anderson made an impassioned call for unity in the district that he loves in the wake of a turbulent election season, emphasizing his and Vindman’s shared military backgrounds.

“We expect them to fight every single day to make life better for every American, starting here in the 7th Congressional District” Anderson said in his brief address.

Kyle Kondik of the UVA Center for Politics gave his analysis of the race while speaking to Avery Davis of NBC29 Charlottesville, “I think Vindman’s victory is in some ways emblematic of what’s been happening in the House, in that the shift at the presidential level was not great enough to prevent Democrats from holding on to a number of their winnable seats…”.
