On Friday, April 12, 2024, Delma Louis Rogers, loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord while surrounded by family.

Louis was born on March 4, 1943, to the late Della Mae and Wilmer Lee Rogers. His loving wife of 54 years, Luvenia Rogers, preceded him in death. He was also preceded by brothers Wilmer and David Rogers and sister Faye Harvey. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Sullivan, and husband, Scott; his son Kevin Rogers, and wife Jessica; three grandchildren who were the light of his life: Lauren Sullivan Seay, and husband Tyler, Justin Sullivan, and Abbey Rogers; and a great-grandson on the way; and Mark Rogers and his son Landon.

Louis grew up in Barboursville, Virginia where he attended Orange County High School. After high school, Louis joined the Orioles organization in Bluefield, Virginia where he was a pitcher. He then worked alongside his brother Wilmer at Rogers Masonry. A staple of Orange for years. In his free time, Louis coached youth baseball in Charlottesville for several decades, mentoring youth in a game he loved. After he stopped coaching, he umpired for the Virginia High School League and also at the collegiate level. He loved UVA sports, specifically football which he held season tickets for over 40 years. After retirement, Louis and his wife Luvenia enjoyed spending more time with their family, playing golf, and traveling together.

The family gives special thanks to the care provided by the staff at Our Lady of Peace and more recently, Heartland Hospice.

In remembrance of Louis’ life, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

The family also encourages support to LouisLuvLetters, a charitable organization that provides support to dementia and Alzheimer’s patients which was started by his granddaughter Abbey.
