Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Dave Koehn, former voice of the Cavaliers and now the voice of the Milwaukee Bucks, joined a recent conversation on WINA Morning News to discuss his involvement in efforts to reduce political polarization through the organization Braver Angels. Koehn, who still maintains a home in Charlottesville, spoke passionately about his commitment to the community and civic engagement.
“I feel like I’ve been afforded a lot in my life… but I do think there’s a responsibility that comes with that, and that is to help others and pay it forward,” Koehn shared. He emphasized how his experiences, including those with Big Brothers Big Sisters and other nonprofits, have shaped his desire to contribute to the betterment of society.
Koehn introduced Braver Angels, a national nonprofit that aims to bridge political divides through structured dialogue. Reflecting on his personal experiences, he noted, “We want the same things… we just have different views of how to get there.” Koehn is helping organize a Braver Angels workshop in Charlottesville, focusing on tools for productive disagreement and fostering healthier political discourse.
The workshop will be held this Saturday, October 19th at the Center at Belvidere, offering attendees practical skills for engaging in more constructive political conversations.
