DANVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – State Police are investigating a Monday morning incident where a Danville police officer and suspect shot each other. Danville Police Chief Chris Wiles said State Police has been brought in at his request after one of his officers located a hit-and-run suspect vehicle in a Riverside Drive hotel parking lot Monday afternoon. Chief Wiles said while the two were talking, the suspect, a 47-year old white male, without provocation suddenly drew a firearm and shot the officer multiple times.Despite injury, the officer was able to fire back and hit the suspect multiple times. Both were taken to hospitals, and while the officer was described in stable condition, the suspect’s condition was not revealed.
