CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — Virginia National Bank is celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary this summer in a big way, by giving back to its debit card customers.

Between now and Aug. 28, all VNB clients who use their debit cards on a purchase of $20 or more will be entered into a sweepstakes with a chance to win $250.

“Do you remember when banks used to give away toasters?” Michelle Warwick of VNB said. “This is way better.”

Customers can enter the contest as many times as they want during the contesting period, with any purchase over $20 qualifying as an entry.

“You can use it online. You can use it at the pump. You can use it school shopping,” Warwick said. “Any purchase is qualified.”

Entries are also made per transaction, not by account, meaning those on a joint account can both entered into the contest.

“This is happening in, probably one of the easiest ways I have seen, where you just swipe your debit card,” Sherry Taylor of VNB said.

Three winners will be drawn each week starting July 24. The winners will be notified by VNB, and the funds will be automatically deposited in the account.

While VNB will be contacting winners, Warwick and Taylor also emphasized that VNB will not ever ask for personal information, including your pin or account information, over the phone. If that happens, contact VNB directly.

All-in-all, VNB’s latest sweepstakes is just another reason to open an account.
