PARIS, FR (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – At the Paris Olympics, Crozet’s Thomas Heilman has qualified for this afternoon’s 200-meter fly semifinal swimming the 11th fastest time of all the swimmers in this morning’s heats. He finished with a time of 1.55.74… which is about a full second off the top three qualifiers, but well within the top 16 needed to qualify for this afternoon’s semis.
There will be a watch party after 2:30 this afternoon at the Brooks Family YMCA where Thomas trains with Cavalier Aquatics. The top 8 finishers qualify for Wednesday’s final.
Leading the charge in the event is Hungary’s Kristof Milak — who owns both the World and Olympic records in this event and led all the qualifiers this morning though more than 3-seconds off that World Record pace.
