CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Heading toward year’s end, if you think things have been relatively quiet around here compared the past couple of years, you’re right. Charlottesville Police Chief Mike Kochis told Luke Neer on Morning News while there’s still a lot of work to do, Part 1 crime is down 10% in the city… which are crimes like murder, rape, aggravated assault, burglaries, motor vehicle thefts, and arson. Kochis says this year the city has seen one homicide compared to six in 2023. Kochis says this is because of a lot of hard work by not only people in the Charlottesville Police building, but also people in the community who have been involved.
