Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Newly elected Congressman for Virginia’s 5th District, John McGuire, expressed enthusiasm and a clear vision during an interview on WINA Morning News following his election night win. Reflecting on his campaign, McGuire emphasized the role of hard work and his inclusive approach to leadership. “I think we had a really good message,” he said. “If you saved my life on the battlefield, I don’t care if you’re a Democrat, Republican, independent, bird, brown or black or white… a good leader brings people together to solve problems.”
Looking ahead to his goals in Congress, McGuire aims to address critical issues facing constituents, including inflation, the fentanyl crisis, and economic concerns. “I certainly want to lower taxes,” he explained, advocating for energy independence to reduce living costs. Despite the whirlwind transition from the Virginia General Assembly to Congress, McGuire remains committed to bipartisan solutions, stating, “If you voted for me, I love you. If you didn’t vote for me, I love you… This district will bring their ideas so that not be, but we could make a better future.”
