Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW): The University of Virginia has secured its first commitment from the transfer portal outside of the ACC in the 2025 Baseball offseason.
Rider University infielder at MAAC Player of the Year Joe Tiroly has announced on X that he will play for Chris Pollard’s Virginia Cavaliers in the 2025-26 season.
Tiroly’s announcement can be found HERE.
During his second season in Lawrenceville, the third-team All-American slashed .377/.481/.749, with 75 hits, 16 doubles, 18 homeruns, and 70 runs batted in.
He will join outfielder AJ Gracia, infielders Noah Murray and Sam Harris, and pitchers Henry Zatkowski, Max Stammel, and Kyle Johnson, who all arrived from Chris Pollard’s previous program at Duke University.
Last season, the Broncs finished 34-18, losing to Fairfield in the MAAC championships. T
Tiroly most often hit third in the lineup and is set to replace projected third round draft pick Henry Godbout at Second Base. There is also a possibility he could see time at third base, although all signs appear to be pointing toward Luke Hanson sticking around and keeping his position. If that’s the case, Tiroly may make the move to shortstop if Eric Becker gets an offer to leave. Virginia’s starting shortstop for the 2025 season sits in the portal at the time of writing.
