CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The City of Charlottesville’s Department of Utilities invites the community to share its feedback on the Charlottesville Gas Decarbonization Study by attending one of three upcoming listening sessions this July and August. In 2023, Utilities began working with the consulting firm Black & Veatch on this study to responsibly and accurately determine how its natural gas utility can help meet community greenhouse gas reduction goals. Essential to this comprehensive analysis is public input, and Utilities encourages residents and business owners in both the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County to take part in helping to shape the outcome of an initiative with community-wide impacts.
With facilitation by Launch! Consulting, community members will be able to attend one of three listening sessions – two virtual options and one in-person option. The first virtual session is on Tuesday, July 9th from 10 AM-11:15 AM; the second virtual session will occur on Tuesday, July 16th from 5:30 PM-6:45 PM; and the final, in-person session, will occur on Thursday, August 22nd from 6 PM-7:15 PM at CitySpace on the Downtown Mall.
