CHARLOTTESVILLE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville City Council has approved a new agreement with the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA for animal shelter services for the next three years, with yearly options after extending the agreement to five years. After a stormy leadership change, CASPCA in March of last year terminated its agreements and this new one a year later ups the costs the city and county pay, but Vice Mayor Brian Pinkston says the city and county get more say. The city and county will pay according to their populations $13-per capita in the first year, which amounts to about $596,000 for the city and $1.47-million for the county. The city and county will also, for the first time, have someone on the CASPCA Board of Directors… and the organization will have a yearly audit.
