CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – State championships for two area high school tennis teams, and both are stringing together multiples. After last year winning their first state championship in 37 years, Charlottesville High School boys won their second straight Class 4 state title with a 5-2 win over Rock Ridge Thursday in Newport News. Black Knights players did not lose a singles match on the entire run.
And Western Albemarle did what they do, winning their 8th consecutive Class 3 state championship taking down Tabb in Lynchburg Thursday. Head coach Ron Manilla called his student athletes to The Daily Progress “solid winners… winners in school… winners on the court, and they’re winners in life”.
