Winchester, VA (cvillerightnow.com): The Charlottesville TomSox have fallen once again, this time in a frustrating defeat that only saw them notch four hits on the road against the Winchester Royals, dropping a game that just over two hours in length by a score of 1-0. There was excellent pitching from both sides. Dylan Story, Vincent Salvo, and Ray Davis kept the Sox offense quiet. In the other dugout, Bradley Link and Saxon Roberts combined for five scoreless innings in relief of Tim Lawson. The Sox ace only threw one errant pitch that resulted in the game’s only run in the first inning. Lawson locked in and shut the Royals down for the remaining three innings that he pitched. It is important to mention that the Sox were robbed of three games at home due to this weekend’s torrential rain. Having a couple days off has an effect on a ballplayer’s rhythms. That is far from an excuse for a paltry offensive performance, but it may have played a factor. The Sox will try and turn it around against the Strasburg Express tonight at 7:00pm.
