CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – The Charlottesville City School Board has released a statement in response to recent executive orders from President Trump, addressing concerns about the potential impact on students and staff. The board stated that the division remains committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

“Thank you to the countless community members who have reached out and shared their concerns regarding the recent Executive Orders from President Trump and their potential impact on our students and staff,” the board stated. “As a school division, Charlottesville City Schools remains committed to fostering a learning environment where every student—regardless of place of birth, gender identity, sexual orientation, or background—feels safe, valued, and supported.”

The statement noted that the federal policy changes have raised concerns. “We recognize that these federal policy changes have created uncertainty and concern, and we want to assure you that our focus remains on the well-being of all students and staff,” the board said.

According to the statement, the school division will continue its current policies and educational approach. “We are maintaining all our regular routines, schedules, and curricula,” the board stated. It also reaffirmed its commitment to student privacy, saying, “Our commitment to upholding the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and to protecting sensitive information about our students has not changed.”
