CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Governor Glenn Youngkin announced the allocation of over $22 million in Affordable and Special Needs Housing loans, which will fund 14 projects across Virginia, including significant developments in Charlottesville. The Piedmont Housing Alliance will receive $2.4 million for the PSCC Apartments, and the Greater Charlottesville Habitat for Humanity will receive $2.4 million for two phases of the Flint Hill project.
These projects are part of a broader initiative to create and preserve 877 affordable housing units statewide. The funding, administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, combines federal and state resources to support low-income and extremely low-income households.
The Charlottesville projects will leverage additional federal, state, local, and private resources, contributing to the overall $230 million investment in affordable housing across Virginia.
This funding round received 55 applications requesting more than $112 million, underscoring the high demand for affordable housing solutions.
