CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A 27-year-old man who was recently released from prison on a murder conviction has been arrested and charged in connection with Sunday’s shooting incident near Grady Ave., CPD announced.

27-year old Husaun Stinnie is charged with possession of a firearm by a violent felon and other charges may be pending, according to CPD.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired around 4 p.m. Sunday in the vicinity of that intersection and arrived to find two people hurt and multiple shell casings on 11th.

“Investigators determined that an altercation between two individuals escalated and resulted in gunfire, during which both parties are believed to have discharged a firearm,” according to the release.

Stinnie was subsequently arrested at an area hospital.

The incident occurred a short time after Stinnie’s release from incarceration after being convicted in October 2018 of second-degree murder of 45-year old Charles “Lucky” Davis on Sept. 11, 2017 on S. 1st St.

Stinnie served eight years in prison, five for a second-degree murder conviction and three on a first offense use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
