CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville Police Chief Kochis presented to City Council last night a plea to implement a one-year program that would combine department program data, asking Council for a $150,000 appropriation. Koches said he was asked during a recent meeting on statistics how many city auto accidents involve a bike. He said the only way to find out would be digging through all accident reports within the period requested because bike accidents are mixed in with pedestrian accidents. He says at it stands now, departments such as records management, body cam video and dispatch systems are all currently separate.

If approved, $150,000 would cover the use of a program that includes on-site training, system configuration, ongoing technical support, and a dedicated deployment strategist. That to integrate nine separate systems into one. Last night’s hearing was the first of two.
