CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville Public Works crews worked Wednesday to clear snow and ice from sidewalks and ADA ramps along the Safe Routes to School paths to make travel safer for students returning to class Thursday. The Safe Routes to School program “supports walking to school while encouraging active and eco-friendly ways to travel” in Charlottesville. Crews focused on these areas to make sure they were clear and usable for Thursday. Charlottesville City Schools are opening two hours late on Thursday, and early-morning (zero period) classes at Buford Middle School and Charlottesville High School are canceled.
