CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The City of Charlottesville announces it will start collecting fallen autumn leaves residents rake to their curbs Oct. 27.

A city release says each neighborhood will be visited by vacuum trucks three times during the season on a set rotating schedule.

Residents can sign up for text alerts reminding them of when their collection week is coming up by texting their address to 434-771-0251

The leaves will be collected loose at the curb, meaning no bags.

There will also be a drop-off location for residents not wanting to wait for a vacuum truck.

Collected leaves will be taken to a local farm for composting “which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and improves local soils.”
