CHARLOTTSVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Not even a year on the job, Charlottesville City Attorney Jacob Stroman was put on administrative leave in April for undisclosed reasons. Even though he’s been exonerated from claims that prompted that leave, Mayor JuanDiego Wade announces Stroman has retired effective September 3. Council approved him and he started work in June 2023, and Mayor Wade said he was instrumental in work on the City’s Development Code, defending the city in litigation, and work on real estate acquisitions including Avon-Levy earlier this year.
During his time on leave, Richmond-based law firm Sands Anderson has been serving as acting City Attorney and will continue to do so as the city searches for a new City Attorney. Stroman was selected in 2023 after Lisa Robertson left in December 2022.
