Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Active Aging Week kicks off this Saturday, September 28th, in Charlottesville, hosted by The Center at Belvedere. Melanie Benjamin, Executive Director of The Center, shared details during a recent interview with WINA Morning News. “At least once a year, we should shine a light on the things and the dimensions that help you age to your best ability.,” said Benjamin, emphasizing the importance of spiritual, intellectual, and physical well-being.
The week kicks off with an Active Aging Fair, featuring over 44 organizations offering resources ranging from legal services to Medicare support. “It’s a one-stop shop,” Benjamin noted, explaining that the fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
For those unable to attend on Saturday, additional programs throughout the week are free and open to the public, offering opportunities to explore volunteerism, fitness, and creative pursuits. Starting Monday, The Center will focus on one wellness dimension each day, with fitness leading the way on September 30th.
