Charlotte Scott Swingler, age 84, departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 27, 2024. She was born November 5, 1939, in Albemarle County, Virginia to the late Rev. Wardell D. Ward and Julia Nelson Ward.

She was preceded in death by husband: Frank P. Swingler, four brothers: Rev. Edward Ward, Robert Ward, Louis Ward, and William Ward.

Charlotte was a dedicated
Charlotte was a dedicated member of The Way of the Cross Baptist Church, Palmyra, Virginia. She served as a trustee at New Hope Baptist Church as well as The Way of the Cross Baptist Church, where she was a founding member. Charlotte retired from the University of Virginia Hospital with 40+ years of service. She received a certificate of recognition as an Official Alumni of the University of Virginia Hospital/Jackson P Burley Licensed Practical Nurses.

Charlotte leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters: Francine Wright (Tim) of Henrico, Wardella Roebuck of Charlottesville, and one son: Thomas Scott III of California. Three sisters: Nancy Luck of Esmont, Ruth Ward of Charlottesville and Rosa James (Morris) of Washington, DC. Four grandchildren: Nikita Wright of Louisville, KY, Gregory Roebuck (Meghann) of Esmont, Kyle Roebuck, of Charlottesville and Taylor Scott of California. Five great grandchildren: Trinity Wright, Tahlia Wright, Jeremiah Cain, Isiah Cain and Josiah Wright all of Richmond, VA, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Charlotte loved sewing, cross stitch and collecting lighthouses. She also loved cutting grass at home and for the church as well as working in her 2 or 3 gardens. Charlotte was described as funny, smart, a hero, a mentor, motivational, inspirational and she didn’t bite her tongue. But most of all, she was a child of the Most High God. She will truly be missed.
