CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) –  UPDATED WED MORNING WITH TWO NEW STOPS AND FURTHER ALBEMARLE INFORMATION:

5th Congressional District locations in our area are playing host to a series of early vote rallies by Republican hopeful John McGuire with Representative Marjorie Taylor Green, with an event scheduled for Charlottesville moved to Albemarle County. The McGuire campaign initially had a 3:30pm “early voting rally” scheduled at the City Hall Annex. However, that has been changed to the 5th Street Albemarle County office building.  County Communications Director Abbey Stumpf says the campaign tells the county it’s “a campaign stop to promote early voting”.

A McGuire campaign email Tuesday night, nevertheless, consistently describes the events as “rallies” — and announced two additional locations as “2 new ultra MAGA rallies”. Past rallies have happened outside the county office building on McIntire… but have been on the public sidewalks. Stumpf says “there are limitations for the polling location – there’s a 40ft buffer of any campaign activities (that line is about where the tables are set up in the parking lot during the election season), there’s also a 300ft buffer for loudspeakers.”
“Ultimately, our aim is to continue to accommodate voter registration to occur at our building. We will also ensure that voters can access the polling location and that campaign activities occur in the designated areas 40 feet from the polling location.”

Charlottesville, and now Albemarle instead, is sandwiched between 2pm Louisa and 5:30pm Prince Edward County stops. The two additions were 9am in Powhatan, and 11am in Goochland… both at those county elections offices. The locations are where people go to vote early.

These rallies come just after early voting kicked off in Virginia. The stops are an effort to energize voters just days after McGuire received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump.
