CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Center at Belvedere is raising funds to improve the acoustics in its performing arts auditorium. Executive Director Melanie Benjamin said feedback revealed “there’s lots of bounce in that room,” making it less than ideal for music performances. A $25,000 grant from the Perry Foundation will help, but the center is asking the community to help match it.
To support the effort, the center is raffling off a queen-sized quilt made by local group The Grateful Threads. “It’s gorgeous… I can’t buy the raffle tickets, but I would suggest someone buy one for me for my birthday,” Benjamin joked. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10, with proceeds going toward the auditorium upgrades.
