Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – John Freeman, the voice of the Virginia Cavaliers, offered a candid take on the state of UVA’s basketball season and their upcoming matchup against UNC. Reflecting on the significance of the game, Freeman remarked, “We get to go wreck all of our rivals and we get to go to Carolina, a chance to basically end their season and send their program into disarray.” The Cavaliers, who are striving to improve their 500 record, face a tough road ahead. Freeman acknowledged the talent within the Tar Heels’ program and the pressure mounting on their side, noting, “They’ve got all the talent and there’s a bit of a feeling of unrest in Carolina.” 

In addition to the game against UNC, Freeman provided insight into the changing landscape of ACC tournament eligibility. He pointed out that Virginia holds tiebreakers over teams like Boston College and NC State, which could be crucial in the tournament race. “Mathematically, there’s still a chance… but it’s a very, very small odds of happening,” he added, hinting at UVA’s precarious but still possible path to postseason play.  

As the Cavaliers prepare for a crucial game against the Tar Heels, Freeman expressed his enthusiasm for the rivalry’s significance, reflecting the intensity and excitement surrounding UVA’s various sports programs this season.
