CHARLOTTESVILLE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW/CBS19) – After quiet skies around the urban ring last July 4, fireworks shot off Carter Mountain will be back this year. Bank of the James and Carter Mountain Orchards are the major sponsors with help from the city, county, and University along with other sponsors… including CBS19 whose withdrawal years ago terminated the shows from McIntire Park. Some community groups, along with community leader Tom Powell, helped put together shows that fired from the mountain from the property of Wendell Wood… but that didn’t happen last year. This year, other community leaders have joined to put on an 18-minute Cville Spectacular… and a donation site has been set up right here to help pay for this year’s and future shows.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Boar’s Head announced its July 4th fireworks will happen during a summer celebration after a few years of not happening.
