AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Greene County woman is being held without bond for an alleged carjacking that included an attack.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at approximately 10:16 am, the Albemarle County Police Department responded to a reported carjacking in the 3200 block of Proffit Road.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female victim suffering from serious injuries who reported her vehicle had been stolen. The victim was transported to UVA Medical Center.

Based on the description given at the scene, officers were able to identify the suspect as Paula Laster, 41, of Greene County, VA. Laster was apprehended without incident in Greene County.

Laster has been charged with two felonies:

  • Carjacking (§18.2-58.1)
  • Attempted malicious wounding (§18.2-51)

Laster is being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
