CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Monday is the winter edition of Charlottesville Radio Group’s Broadcasters for Blood giving event at the Doubletree on 29 North. Central Virginia Red Cross Executive Director Bill Brent tells Morning News this come at a critical time when dozens of drives were cancelled over this past week because of the winter storm aftermath.
He said O-negative is always in need because it can go into anyone… and people with O-negative blood can only receive O-negative. Brent says a diverse giving community is needed also because sickle cell recipients need O-negative… and many African-American and Latino donors have O-negative blood.
Broadcasters for Blood is 7am-to-7pm Monday at the Doubletree.
