PALMYRA, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Fluvanna Emergency Communications Center has discovered a service outage experienced by Brightspeed, which is formerly CenturyLink, affecting 911 and non-emergency phone lines. Since 9am, it appears citizens may have no or limited ability to make outgoing calls using traditional landline phones, and 911 calls for those phones may not be reaching the Communications Center. 911 calls, including text to 911, made using wireless devices appear to be functioning regularly.

Any Fluvanna citizen who calls 911 and is not directly connected with Fluvanna County Emergency Communications should immediately calls one of the non-emergency numbers for the Sheriff’s Office at 434-589-8211 or 434-589-8212. The Communications Center has activated two additional phone line for Fluvanna citizens to use for direct contact: 434-962-1761 and 434-962-2894. The County says Communications Officers are prepared to answer emergency and non-emergency calls on those number.

At this time, no projected restoration time for service has been communicated to the Center. More information will be sent out as it’s received.
