CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville Tom Sox pitcher Bobby Olsen has been named the Valley Baseball League’s South Division Pitcher of the Week. Olsen threw nine scoreless innings in two road appearances, allowing just five hits and striking out nine. He began with a five-inning relief outing in Harrisonburg, adding six strikeouts in a 9-7 win over the Turks. He then pitched four scoreless innings in Staunton, lowering his season ERA to 1.64.
Olsen, committed to Villanova University after his senior year at Nebraska, is in his second season with the Tom Sox. Last season, he posted a 3.63 ERA in 22.1 innings. He is the second Tom Sox pitcher and third player to earn a league honor this season.
The Tom Sox will play the Covington Lumberjacks tonight (7/9/2024) at Charlottesville High School at 7 p.m. for Educator Appreciation Night, with free admission for teachers, staff, and administrators.
