The beans are spilled in a bullet point in the City Manager's report at Monday night's City Council meeting, but everything running according to schedule means the Belmont Bridge will be done by the end of the month.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The long-awaited Belmont Bridge project is set to be wrapped up by the end of this month.
First revealed as a bullet point in the City Manager’s report at Monday night’s City Council meeting, Mayor JuanDiego Wade confirmed the news during his appearance on Morning News.
The project was debated for years before it officially kicked off in January 2017, and construction started in July 2021. Mayor Wade praised the planning and construction teams for their ability to maintain traffic flow on the crossing while building the new bridge.
“We’re looking forward to doing all of the little last minute things now, and probably they will do a final overlay of asphalt… but it is coming to an end and of course it’s amazing that people were able to use that bridge the entire time.”
The city will send out a release with all the ribbon-cutting details in the near future. If everything goes according to schedule, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on June 28th.
