CRAIGSVILLE (CvilleRightNow) – The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is advising “the Town of Craigsville is out of water”. This follows the issuance Wednesday afternoon of a boil water advisory, under the guidance of the Virginia Department of Health. The town began distributing cases of water this (Thursday) morning for residents needing it. The mayor told the Staunton News Leader a leak in the system was repaired Wednesday that resulted in the advisory being issued, and now repair crews are trying to find an airlock blocking the water line.
Augusta Sheriff Donald Smith says the Augusta County Service Authority is working with town to find the problem and correct it as soon as possible. In an effort to assist those without water, the sheriff asks the community to bring bottled water to the sheriff’s office at 127 Lee Highway in Verona, then deputies will transport the donated water to those in need in the community. If anyone needing water is disabled, elderly or unable to drive, you can reach out to the sheriff’s office at 540-245-5333 and they’ll arrange delivery.
