VERONA, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Augusta County Sheriff has a Verona man in custody for a May 17 strong-arm  robbery in the Fishersville area. Deputies responded around 9 that Saturday night to the 100 block of Bobbys Way and found a victim with serious injuries to his head and face. The investigation determined 35- year old Derrick Lee Barbour as a suspect and that he was armed with a handgun. The victim was transported to Augusta Health.

Deputies has been looking for him ever since until Thursday night when a deputy executed a traffic stop shortly after 7PM Thursday on Lee Highway. The sheriff says this was an isolated incident between two acquaintances. Barbour is being held at the Middle River Regional Jail on charges of malicious wounding, robbery with serious bodily injury, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
