CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The National Weather Service has declared a winter weather advisory for the Charlottesville and Albemarle County areas for Monday from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. The forecast calls for snow, with accumulations of 1-3 inches locally and up to 4 inches possible along the Blue Ridge Mountains, according to an NWS announcement posted Sunday.

Nelson and Augusta County are also included in the advisory.

The advisory warns of “slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.”

The NWS forecasts that, “Snow will spread into the area during the early morning hours, then gradually taper off during the afternoon. With subfreezing temperatures in place, snow should easily accumulate on roadways, leading to slippery travel.”

Cville Right Now will post school, government office and local business closing as they are announced Monday.
