CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Power’s back on in our area that was knocked out by severe storms Sunday evening, bringing down trees and power lines in several Charlottesville and Albemarle neighborhoods. No tornadoes confirmed, just straight-line winds that directly preceded a line of severe storms. At one point, more than 20,000 Dominion Energy Virginia customers were without power at the Sunday peak.

The National Weather Service confirms an isolated severe storm spun an EF1 tornado in northern Culpeper County around 9:30 Monday night. Four homes were impacted in the Rixeyville community, including a tree on a roof.
An EF1 tornado is also confirmed to have touched down Monday evening in Salem, damaging homes and cars around an apartment complex.
No one hurt in either storm.
