Ardelia B. Wells was born November 3, 1940, the youngest child of six to the parents of Joseph Edward Bolling and Ruth Elizabeth Bolling. Ardelia Bolling Wells entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 25, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband of Cyrus l. Wells of fifty -one years. She was preceded in death by her father Jospeh Edward Bolling and mother Ruth Elizabeth Bolling; brothers Irvin Bolling, Edward Bolling, Charles Bolling; sisters Ruth Bolling, Esther Johnson, and her granddaughter Denetra Yates.
Ardelia has been active in church since a child and had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She served as an active member of the Usher Board of Pilgrim Baptist Church later to unite with the Mt. Airy Baptist Church as the president of the Usher ministry at the Mount Airy Baptist Church. She became a deaconess later in Mount Airy Baptist Church and served as the mother of Church of Mount Airy Baptist Church.
Ardelia was raised in Esmont Virginia and attended Jackson P. Burley High School. In 1959, she married Cyrus, and they had two beautiful loving daughters Sandra Wells Jackson Allsbrooks (Jimmie) of Henrico Virginia, and Hazel Lisa Wells Yates of Charlottesville, Virginia. She has one son-in-love, Tim Oliver Jackson of Hopewell, Viriginia. Her grandchildren Chtaura Romayne Jackson, Caleb Ramon Jackson (Shanay), Christopher Lawrence Wells Yates and Rashard Ian Jackson; great -grandchildren McKenzie Jackson, Alexis Jackson, Marcell Jackson, Kehmani Jackson, Kassidy Jackson, and Bryson Jackson to cherish her memory and continue her legacy; several nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Ardelia was employed by General Electric, Virginia National Bank, Albemarle Bank and Trust and F&M Bank. Upon retirement, she was employed by Charlottesville School system and later became a caterer. She enjoyed bowling in several leagues competitively. She was the co- founder of the Blue Mints Civic and Social Club, which provided support to the many community agencies. She is a member of Genesis Chapter 1 Order of Eastern Stars in Richmond Virginia; Pride of Virginia Court #2 Heroines of Jericho Charlottesville; St. Catherine Council of Crusader; Electa Court #6 Amaranth and Saba Court #7 DOI of Richmond, Virginia; Past Grand Treasurer for Teresa Grand Council of Crusaders and the Past Illustrious Priestess of St. Margaret Council #3 Crusader in Charlottesville, Virginia and Women of the Moose. She was a mover and shaker, always on the go touching lives along the way.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank her medical team and everyone for the care given during her illness. Ardelia was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great mother and friend to many, she will be missed greatly.
