Antonio “Tony” Valentino Gary passed away unexpectedly at his home in Charlottesville, VA on July 31, 2024, at the age of 63. Tony was born on July 22, 1961, in Richmond, Va. to the late Bertha Baskerville and Eddie Howard, Sr.
Tony is survived by his children, Danielle Jackson, Monique Cook, Cherylyce Martin and Christopher Ballard; and his siblings, Koji Baskerville, Kim Baskerville-Miller, Emmett Gary, Kay Gary, Eddie M. Howard, Jr., Pamela H. Lindsay, Vicki H. Fowler. Michelle H. Washington, Pierre D. Howard, Becky H. Quarles, Shonda H. Steppe, Tracey H. Goff and Kia Howard.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Bertha Baskerville of Richmond, Va. and his Father, Eddie M. Howard Sr., of Charlottesville, Va.
Tony earned his GED in Richmond, Va. He was a certified Youth Ministry Worker and was certified in a Men’s Fellowship/Mentorship Program and a Youth Development & Leadership Program. Tony was an established Artist-self-taught. His family remembers him as a kind, patient, and loving father, grandfather, brother, and Uncle who always had a big beautiful smile waiting for them.
Tony was passionate about his artwork and every picture he drew had a very personal meaning. His art has been shown in art shows. Tiny loved spending time at the beach in reflection.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Tony’s brother, Min. Eddie M. Howard, Jr for the emotional support and guidance he gave to Tony and all the support and legwork he has provided in preparing Tony for his homegoing for this family during this time of sorrow. We thank all who assisted financially and emotionally in Tony’s homegoing.
