CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – An anonymous donor has given $140,000 to meet the grocery needs of Charlottesville City Schools students and their families this winter.
A total of 1,400 $100 gift cards to Food Lion and Kroger will be distributed this December to families with at least one student currently enrolled in Charlottesville City Schools.
City schools’ Beth Cheuk points out 52-percent of Cville Schools students come from economically disadvantaged households.
The division’s Family and Community Engagement team works year-round with community partners to ensure families have essential needs like school supplies, winter coats, hygiene products, and groceries.
Eligible families who would benefit from this gift can register using this Google Form.
