CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Today, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors is convening on the second Wednesday of the month due to next week’s Juneteenth holiday. Interim Director of Communications Abbey Stumpf discussed key agenda items in a morning interview.

The board will review the Broadway Blueprint Phase Two study, focusing on economic revitalization of the Broadway St. area. This includes recommendations for improvements based on feedback from local stakeholders. Stumpf explained, “This is an effort to economically revitalize the Broadway St. area, so down near Wolfe factory, which as you know is a really interesting area.”

Public hearings include an ordinance to implement fees for electric vehicle charging stations, addressing rising electricity costs. Another hearing will address the rezoning of the Ravana area for light industrial use, following a $58 million investment by the county.

Lastly, the board will discuss a cost-of-living adjustment to their compensation, aligning with earlier increases given to county employees. The current proposal suggests raising their annual compensation from $19,803 to $20,199.

The meeting began at 1 PM today.
