Albemarle County, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – White Hall District Supervisor Ann Mallek joined Cville Right Now to provide updates on Albemarle County’s storm recovery efforts and other key developments. Mallek detailed the ongoing response to recent rainstorms, which caused severe flooding and damage in the region.

“Chief Dan Eggleston… did give us an update on the storm recovery,” Mallek said. ” There were water rescues from people camping down in Misty Mountain, in Greenwood and another location as well. Hazmat fires, house fires, 1 fatality, fire marshall’s for all, fully engaged.” Mallek also highlighted plans to install additional water gauges around the county to better prepare for future storms.

In addition, Mallek discussed Governor Glenn Youngkin’s visit for the announcement of Afton Scientific’s expansion, which will bring 200 new jobs to the area. “The company which began 30 years ago… has gone from one employee to 30 to 50… and with this new very large expansion… 200 more employees,” she said.

Operation Green Light, honoring veterans in November, was also mentioned as a key upcoming initiative for the county.
