CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) Albemarle County Public Schools superintendent Dr. Matthew Haas has been given a one-year contraction extension, through June, 2028, the division announced Monday.
Haas, in the post since July, 2018, also received a 3% salary raise, effective July 1, and a $600 bonus.
“These actions are consistent with the Board’s approach to maintaining equitable and transparent compensation practices across the division,” said School Board Chair Dr. Kate Acuff, in a statement. “We’re grateful for Dr. Haas’s steady leadership and continued commitment to our students, staff, and community. In this case, the Board approved the same salary adjustment and bonus provided to all regular employees this year.”
Haas last received an extension in 2023, when his deal was extended through June 30, 2027.
“I am grateful for the Board’s support and their belief in our leadership team,” Haas said in a statement. “It is an honor to continue serving Albemarle County Public Schools, and I am confident that, with our Board’s leadership, we will keep moving ACPS for the good of our children, staff, families and community.”
