ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Albemarle County School Board will once again be offering in-person signup for public comment starting Thursday, March 28, 2024. The practice was discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic, when public meetings switched to the virtual sphere nationwide.

Community members who would like to sign up for public comment in person must check in with School Board Clerk Christine Thompson beginning at 6 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Public commenters will be able to sign up via the clerk until the start of the public comment period. Community members will still have access to online public comment signup beginning at 9 a.m. on the Monday of the week of the meeting through 2 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Public commenters will have three minutes to speak. In the event of a large number of public commenters, the board can opt to reduce time to two minutes.

Comments and concerns may be shared with members of the board at any time by emailing SchoolBoard@k12albemarle.org. For more information on how to be involved with school board meetings or to access the online public comment signup link, visit the School Board web page at k12albemarle.org/board.
