CHARLOTTSVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County Police announced “proactive saturation patrols” during the Cinco de Mayo holiday resulted in 26 traffic stops and 30 tickets issued. ACPD says the saturation was in response “to the increased risk of impaired driving often associated with this time”. Top violations were 10 tickets for expired or counterfeit registrations or inspections, 5 for speeding, 4 for cellphone use, and two for either “no” or “suspended” driver’s license. Others were for failure to obey traffic signs, or “no” or “improper” seat belt use.
ACPD’s appeal is to drive sober and make smart choices behind the wheel.
