ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County firefighters responded to reports of multiple brush fires in Biscuit Run Park on Thursday afternoon just after 3:30pm.
When they arrived on the scene, they found between 25 to 30 individual brush fires that spanned several miles, just south of Interstate 64 between Route 20 and Route 631. Three of the brush fires had spread to more than an acre. Firefighters were able to extinguish all of the fires just before 7pm.
The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office suspects the fires were deliberately set. They are asking anyone that was in the Biscuit Run Park area between 3-4 pm on Thursday (May 2, 2024) to contact the Fire Marshal’s Office if they have information about the fires.
Biscuit Run Park is currently closed to the public during trail construction.
