Albemarle County, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County Fire Rescue Chief Dan Eggleston highlighted the importance of traffic safety and the critical role first responders play in accident and emergency situations. During a recent interview, Eggleston stressed, “People need to slow down, especially in school zones, provide people an opportunity to move about freely.” He also addressed the tragic gun violence incident over the weekend, explaining, “We do respond lockstep with our Police Department on situations involving gun violence or just violence in general… we have been working really closely with the Police Department for years to make sure our responses are well coordinated and working off the same page.”
Eggleston emphasized the need for ongoing coordination between the fire and police departments to ensure efficient emergency response, adding that the departments train and work closely together to manage these critical incidents. The fire chief also shared the department’s success in securing a $1.74 million FEMA grant to hire more personnel, allowing for 24/7 staffing at the N Garden Volunteer Fire Department.
