CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County Police say it’s going to be awhile before we get numbers, but Monday morning was the first of tickets being issued tickets to speeders through the Hydraulic Road school zone around the Lambs Lane school complex. The speed cameras have been active for nearly seven weeks since the day after Labor Day, and up until the school zone speed limit activated Monday morning, only warnings were issued to those going 10-miles-an-hour or more over the limit. Now, people going 10 and over the school zone speed limit will be issued tickets with 100-dollar civil fines. Albemarle County Police spokesperson Logan Bogert says they don’t get daily numbers, but numbers broken down for a week and those numbers lag a week behind. So, therefore they won’t know the number of tickets issued in the first week until October 28.
