ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A weekend routine traffic stop conducted initiated by an Albemarle County Police Department officer led to a vehicle pursuit and an arrest leading to several felony charges, including drug possession and charges.

On Sunday, July 20, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m. an ACPD officer pulled over a vehicle in the 800 block of Pantops Corner Way. When asked for information, a man later identified as Trevious T. Sandridge, 33, of Charlottesville, provided officers with a false name and Social Security number. The officer also observed what appeared to be a handgun in the driver’s pocket and asked him to place his hands on the steering wheel.

Sandridge then allegedly sped off, with a pursuit on eastbound Richmond Road that ended in the parking lot of a hotel near Interstate 64.

Pursuing officers were able to safely stop the vehicle and Sandridge was taken into custody without further incident.

A subsequent search revealed that Sandridge was in possession of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and a sawed-off shotgun. He was also found to have two outstanding warrants.

ACPD charged Sandridge with the following:

Three counts of possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance (18.2-250)
Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance While in Possession of a Firearm (18.2-308.4)
Possession of a Firearm by a Violent Felon (18.2-308.2)
Possession of a Sawed-Off Shotgun (18.2-300)
Felony Eluding (46.2-817)
Providing False Identification to Law Enforcement (19.2-82.1)

Sandridge is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
