CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A pair of men were arrested early Thursday morning after a 911 caller reported witnessing them attempting to break into and steal from cars on Crafton Circle.
Maquarr I. Chambers, 22, of Howardsville, and Dyonte L. Trice, 19, of Charlottesville, were arrested by officers who responded to the call, according to a release from the county.
Both men are being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
At about 1:07 a.m., ACPD responded to a report of “a larceny in progress in the 400 block of Crafton Circle. The reporting party indicated that males wearing all black attire and masks were attempting to break into vehicles and steal items,” according to the release.
The suspects fled in a vehicle, heading northbound on Seminole Trail and, during a pursuit, officers witnessed the suspects throw a firearm out of the vehicle.
Officers ended the pursuit by forcing the vehicle to stop, leading to a foot pursuit. Chambers was quickly apprehended. Trice was taken into custody, without incident, with the assistance of a K-9 unit.
“Following a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers recovered a second firearm, stolen jewelry, cash and wallets, and a gaming console. The firearm discarded from the vehicle was also later recovered by officers,” the release said.
