CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at The Miller School of Albemarle Wednesday morning, ACFR spokesperson Reagan Samuels told Cville Right Now.

Career and volunteer personnel were dispatched to the school at approximately 8:13 a.m. The first suppression apparatus arrived 11 minutes later. Smoke and flames were found showing from the roof of a building on the 950 block of Samuel Miller Loop.

Samuels said no students were in the school at the time. One adult was able to self-evacuate without injury.

One apartment unit sustained damage from fire, and others were unable to be occupied due to loss of power. The Miller School is assisting displaced residents.

The cause of the fire was determined by the Albemarle Fire Marshal’s office to be a mechanical failure with an attic vent fan.
