CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Albemarle County Police Department arrested 19-year-old Asiyus S. Langhorn of Dillwynn and recovered a firearm following a chase late Sunday night, according to a release.
An officer pulled over a driver for failing to stay in their lane in the area of Seminole Trail and Airport Acres at approximately 11:22 p.m.
When the officer approached the vehicle, a firearm and extended magazine were seen in the passenger seat. The driver then fled the traffic stop, initiating a pursuit on northbound Seminole Trail.
The original officer and others who joined the chase saw the driver throw the firearm out the passenger-side window, the release stated.
Langhorn was taken into custody without further incident. Officers later recovered the firearm.
Langhorn has been charged with felony eluding, reckless handling of a firearm, underage driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane and travel.
Langhorn is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
